Instrument Rating
Many Insurance Companies and Employers, such as EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and Offshore Oil Transport Operators require an Instrument Rating.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Hold at least a Private Helicopter Certificate
- Pass the Airman’s Knowledge Test
- Pass the Oral and Practical Test
Minimum Flight Experience:
- Have 50 hours of X-C PIC
- 40 hours of simulated or actual instrument flight
- 15 hours w/ authorized instructor who holds instrument-helicopter rating
- 100nm X-C in Helicopter
- 3 hours in Helicopter in Preparation for the Test
